In the following picture, Gil Devora came by earlier and left a picture saying "Waiting to meet Robert Scoble" and you can see how many people start leaving notes replying to what he did.
Just like Facebok, Twitter, Google +, etc. if there is a lot of information within 50 meters, it will give you the newest information 1st and work backwards. Right now, they opened it for everyone. Everyone can see everyone because of web content, but at a later stage, one will only be able to see friends by either Facebook Connect or by your address book, etc. and they can leave notes to 1 person, a group, or Facebook friends, possibly leave notes to only Google+ friends or acquaintances if that's what they use. This app is excellent at museums. One would see a lot of notes left by other people and they can leave notes. This app is great at festivals, concerts, and as you'll see in the following video, the app being used while shopping, at restaurants, etc.
The volume of this video is really low, you would have to crank the volume. What I did was I put Closed Captions on so I can read it. Watch the video:
This is a really interesting post and fascinating app! I can definitely see something like this becoming really popular soon. I really would love to see museums use technology like this. I recently went to the Milwaukee Public Museum to see the new exhibit Crossroads of Civilization and they were using touch screen computers and such to encourage interaction. The problem was it was only at the entrance of the exhibit, and it made the entry really crowded. MPM could really use an app like this to let people view notes and make the experience a lot more fascinating.
ReplyDeleteIt would also be really helpful to see this at restaurants. I really like to see visuals of food on a menu before I order it, and while apps like Instagram can help some of that imagery appear its usually by the restaurant itself and that doesn't always hold true to its actual appearance (because I'm almost certain I'll never get a McRib at McDonald's that really looks like the picture). I feel this app will give a more "human touch" to everything. Overall, a very interesting app to see.
At any given concert venue, when you page far enough down you would see messages left from so many past concerts of whatever music. On the Summerfest grounds, at Warped Tour, there might still be messages left from Summerfest and their ethnic fests. At art galleries, there might be posts about art that was taken down. But museums mostly pretty much stay permanent, although MPM sometimes has special displays going on that are temporary. Or if anything was left in classrooms at MATC, it would be interesting.
